The floods in Manitoba
For entire generations of Manitobans of the Red River valley, the spring floods are just another part of life. Every new overflow of the river pushes the people in charge to re-evaluate the emergency intervention measures and the anti-flooding systems so that the lessons from the past may help in saving lives and properties.

One of the teachings which can be taken from the 1997 flood is that it is necessary to remain vigilant and ready to react rapidly and effectively in case of an eventual flood.
